37003 Mainline Appeal

Last modified 20:36 29-07-10

The C37LG plan to return 37003 to mainline operational status in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the class 37 introduction into service with British Rail in December 1960.

In order to do this we need to raise the funds to overall 37003 and to fit the necessary equipment to meet current railway regulations, e.g. OTMR, TPWS, etc

So here's the appeal, we need to get 37003 to Liverpool Street to haul its first railtour, from its new home in Dereham some 136 miles and 54 chains away. We've done the calculations and worked out it's going to cost about £2.75 a chain to get 37003 to Liverpool Street.

In order to fund the work, we are inviting you to sponsor a chain for £2.75. We will send you a certificate showing your contribution to returning 37003 to the mainline.

For those people with a little more money to spare, you can buy a mile for £200, for which we will give you a certificate and a specially produced badge to commemorate the first run of 37003 on the mainline. For those who buy 5 miles for £1,000, you will also get a free standard class ticket for the first railtour, and for buying 10 miles for £2,000 you will get either a first class ticket or two standard class tickets.

Why not set up a standing order to help us get 003 back on the mainline sooner. Certificates will be issued every six months and tickets will be sent to you in time for the tour

The route map on the left will be used to show the amount we've raised so far.

Download the sponsorship form. or buy your Chains and Miles on line from the Shop, just click 'Group Appeal' from the menu bar.

Thanks to all those who have bought chains so far, we have already reached the 17 mile 0 chain stage, having passed through Wymondham Abbey we are now on the virtual mainline.
